Slido Guide

This guide can help hosts ensure their Slido interactions are accessible to participants with disabilities.

  • Audience Q&A: Participants submit questions and vote for their favorites.
  • Multiple Choice: Participants choose from a list of answers.
  • Word Cloud: Displays the most common responses as a cloud of words.
  • Open Text: Participants respond in their own words.
  • Ideas: Collects ideas from participants and categorizes them by topic with AI.
(Note: AI functionality is currently turned off for Illinois accounts.)
  • Ranking: Participants rank options in their preferred order.
  • Rating: Participants rate items on a presenter‑defined scale.
  • Quiz with Leaderboard: Runs a quiz and displays a leaderboard at the end.
  • Survey: Collects structured participant feedback.

The following interactions are generally self‑explanatory. Presenters should still provide a brief orientation depending on how the interaction is distributed.

  • Multiple Choice
  • Open Text
  • Survey

These interactions require presenters to clearly describe what users should expect, what actions they need to take, and ongoing verbal descriptions of dynamic visual results.

•         Word Cloud

•         Quiz and Leaderboard

These interactions present accessibility barriers or require additional review.

•         Audience Q&A

•         Ideas

•         Ranking

•         Rating

Providing Slido URLs in Advance

Share Slido links early (such as within agenda materials) to allow participants—particularly those using assistive technology—to orient themselves before the session begins.

Using Slido in Webex

  • Webex App (Desktop/Webex client)

Slido interactions can be launched through the Webex app via the Apps panel. Presenters should provide orientation, for example:

“I am going to push out a Slido multiple‑choice question. In the Webex app, a window will open with the question and possible answers. If you are using assistive technology, locate the ‘Back to Apps’ button, then use tab navigation until you reach the question. I will repeat the question now…”
  • Webex Web App

Slido interactions can also be launched through the Webex web app. The presenter should orient users similarly, for example:

“I am going to push out a Slido multiple‑choice question. In the Webex web app, a window will open with the question-and-answer options. If you are using assistive technology, navigate to the ‘Back to Apps’ button, then move through headings until the question is announced. I will repeat the question now…”

Additional Slido Distribution Options

  • Sharing the Slido URL in chat
  • Sharing access via QR code (Be aware this method creates a new experience for your users because it will require them to use their personal digital device.)
