DoIT's Illinois Innovation Challenge at High-Tech CHI!
Event
On December 9, the Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) participated in High-Tech CHI as part of the celebration for Computer Science Education Week. The day-long event focused on exposing K-14 students to new and innovative technology. As part of the celebration, DoIT hosted the Illinois Innovation Challenge to invite students to propose innovative solutions to real-world opportunities within state government.
The winner of the competition was a team representing Harold Washington Community College and the University of Illinois at Chicago comprised of Adrian R. Anaya, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Ulises Martinez, and Luis Sanchez. Their proposal was titled “Talk to Illinois” and focused on providing better information for young adults on “how to do life in Illinois.”
Their creative proposal suggested creating a website that offers practical advice in areas such as insurance, filing taxes, and applying for jobs. Development is already underway to incorporate their suggestions as well as ideas from other participants in the Challenge into the state website and operations. Thanks for inspiring new innovation!
